Armed Services

If you are serving in the U.S. armed forces on active duty outside of the State of Ohio, you, your spouse and dependents may vote by an armed service absentee ballot if you otherwise meet the requirements for voting in Ohio. Your spouse and dependents may vote by an armed service absentee ballot only if they left Ohio to be with you.

 

Armed Services Immediate / Eligible Family Member

An eligible relative, of an armed services member, may request an absentee ballot be sent to you by using the Secretary of State prescribed form. Immediate / eligible family member is defined as: spouse, father, mother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, grandfather, grandmother, brother or sister of the whole blood or half blood, son daughter, adapting parent, adapted child, stepparent, stepchild, uncle, aunt, nephew, or niece.

 

Overseas Civilian

If you are a United States Citizen who is living outside the U.S. for work, school or other reasons, you may vote an overseas civilian absentee ballot if you otherwise meet the requirements for voting in Ohio.

 

 

 

 

FPCA Form

FPCA (Federal Post Card Application) can be used by Armed Services Members, their spouse, dependants or civilian overseas voters. This application not only serves as a registration form but also as an absentee ballot application. All FPCA's are good for one (1) calendar year and all eligible elections.

While Armed Services FPCA's do not have to follow the prescribed deadlines for voter registration, though it is recommended to submit a registration / application as early as possible. Overseas civilian voters are required to follow voter registration deadlines.

FPCA's for Military Voters can be submitted beginning January 1 of each year. (Good for all eligible elections for one calendar year)

FPCA's for Overseas Civilian voters must be submitted for each election.
