Safety and Security

Court security is equipped with two magnetometers, a state-of-the-art x-ray machine, and handheld wands. All persons entering the building are subject to search of their person and belongings with the aid of this technology. Please review the courthouse restrictions before entering the building to avoid unnecessary delays.

The following items are NOT permitted in the courthouse and offices:
(These items will be confiscated upon entering the building)

  • Guns**
  • Knives (this includes pocket knives)
  • Pepper spray, OC spray, Mace
  • Hammers, screwdrivers, and other potentially hazardous tools
  • Explosive devices
  • Harmful chemicals
  • Any item that could be considered a weapon
  • Any intoxicating or illegal substance
  • Court Security reserves the right to confiscate any item that is deemed inappropriate or unlawful.

**Persons may be subject to criminal prosecution for bringing hazardous or illegal items into the courthouse.

**Guns are not permitted in government buildings even if the owner has a concealed weapon permit.

**Violent or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and will result in immediate ejection from the building or arrest.

It is important to respect the wishes of the court in regards to the following items:

  • Cellular Phones (Electronic devices should be silenced during court proceedings)
  • Cameras (The Court has the right to refuse cameras in the courtroom and may eject individuals from the courtroom who are deemed disruptive.)
