Training Requirements

DART members will work in coordination with a multitude of agencies and organizations in an effort to support the DART mission. DART will operate under the Incident Command System (ICS) according to the National Incident Management System (NIMS) requirements. As a result, DART members will be required to obtain the following certifications:


National Incident Management System Courses:

IS 100.B: Introduction to the Incident Command System

IS 200.B: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents

IS 700.A: National Incident Management System (NIMS)


The above courses are available at no cost online at http://www.training.fema.gov/IS/crslist.asp as part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency Independent Study Program.

DART members are required to complete the above training courses and submit official certificates of course completion within one year of obtaining DART membership.


Recommended Training

The following courses are recommended but not required to be completed for membership.

IS 10.A: Animals in Disaster: Awareness and Preparedness
IS 11.A: Animals in Disaster: Community Planning
IS 111: Livestock in Disaster
IS 800.B: National Response Framework
