Our Mission

We will take the initiative to facilitate opportunities for Wood County residents to lead healthy lives.

Our Mission will be accomplished by:

  • Coordinating community assessment efforts to define health issues to prevent disease, promote health, and protect residents from health risks
  • Developing local health policies which support and encourage better health
  • Encouraging and assisting citizens to understand personal and community health risks and accept responsibility to adopt practices that enhance individual and collective health
  • Assuring that appropriate services are accessible to all residents and delivered in an effective and efficient manner

Health Commissioner

Pamela Butler, MPH. Prior to being named Wood County Health Commissioner, Ms. Butler had been Health Commissioner in Pickaway County, OH. In addition to her experience as a health commissioner, Ms. Butler spent a great deal of time on emergency preparedness while working for the Hospital Council of Northwest Ohio. She has a Masters in Public Health in Health Education and Promotion from the Northwest Ohio Consortium of Public Health at BGSU and UT.
