Wood County Board of HealthThe Wood County Board of Health is the governing body of the Wood County Health District. It has the authority to adopt rules and regulations, enact policies, hire staff, and develop programs. The Board is required to enforce specific sections of Ohio Revised Code and rules of the Ohio Public Health Council. The Board also appoints the Health Commissioner, who is responsible for day-to-day functions of the department and serves as the Executive Officer and Secretary of the Board. The Wood County Board of Health consists of 11 members. Six of the members are appointed by the District Advisory Council. The cities of Bowling Green, Perrysburg, Rossford, and Northwood also appoint one member each. The eleventh member of the Board is appointed by the Wood County Health District Licensing Council. All Board members must live in Wood County, may not hold an elected office and should be knowledgeable in the field of health. At least one member must be a licensed physician. Members are appointed for a five year term. The Wood County Board of Health meets the second Thursday of the month at 7:30 pm. at the Wood County Health Department. These meetings are open to the public and the Board encourages citizen participation.
