Wood County Recorder

Thank you for visiting the website of the Wood County Recorder. Here you will find many useful resources and information about the functions and requirements of the office. So please take a minute and browse the site to learn about this important county office.

On March 27, 2013 HB479-Ohio Legacy Trust Act, aka: Domestic Asset Trust, took effect. The new law "provides for an optional personal property recording and constructive notice system. This system expressly provides that transferors may file a 'notice of personal property transfer' with the county recorder, and that such a notice is considered a 'public record' for the limited purpose of the new constructive notice statute." The Notice of Personal Property Transfer will be recorded and maintained as a part of the office's Official Records. This document should be signed and acknowledged before a notary public, as well as conform to all other requirements set down by Ohio law. The fee to record the Notice of Personal Property Transfer will be $28.00 for the first two pages and $8.00 for each additional page. Please refer to O.R.C. 317.18(E)(1) for all of the details regarding these changes.

There is a new report that is being furnished by the office via our website. This report gives a monthly breakdown of all documents recorded by title companies and can be found by selecting Monthly Title Company Reports under Reports.

Currently, only our indexes can be searched on-line. Some plat images are available and we are working on getting the rest of the plats scanned so that they can be viewed and printed from the website. So if you are looking for an image of a plat please check our indexes on-line first it may be available. We are still in the process of redacting personal information (social security numbers, etc.) from all other recorded documents before those will be available on-line. The website is also in the process of being upgraded so that the index search will be available to all individuals regardless of the type of bowser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.) loaded on their computer. Your understanding in this matter is greatly appreciated.

As always the staff in the office is here to assist you in any way they can. So if you have questions or concerns please feel free to contact a friendly, knowledgable staff member or me directly at jbaumgardner@co.wood.oh.us.
