Bowling Green, Ohio – June 17, 2003 -- The Wood County Commissioners recently awarded bids totaling $2,282,539 for the construction of the Wood County Courthouse Complex Atrium.

Mosser Construction was awarded the contract for the general construction at a cost of $1,864,800. Other contracts were awarded to Romanoff Electric (Electrical) and Marlin White & Sons (Mechanical and Plumbing).

With construction scheduled to begin this month, residents can track the progress of this project over the internet at www.co.wood.oh.us. Two camera angles will provide live images during the construction process.

Due to the nature of the construction, the public may experience temporary inconveniences throughout the project. Special accommodations will be arranged as needed.

This $2.2 million project will include provisions for court related security issues as required by the State Supreme Court. Critical building drainage and water damage issues associated with the plaza area and basement among the three buildings will also be addressed.

Funding assistance for this project was made possible by the efforts of State Senator Randy Gardner, who helped obtain $1 million through the State’s capital budget. The remainder will be paid from the County’s permanent improvement fund.

Computer-generated images of the Atrium, as well as construction material samples, remain on display for public viewing in the Fifth Floor Lobby of the County Office Building from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
